BQ76PL455A: BQ76PL455 for 2 serial 36V Li battery application

Part Number: BQ76PL455A

Hi Sir,

We are evaluating 2 serial -36V Li battery architecture system for electric motorcycle application.

The Pack A and Pack B can swap by user random. And the “2 serial -36V Li battery “also needs to support 72 V charge/ Discharge  in car.

According to Ti/ BQ76PL455A’s use-case scenarios document, page 27.  The “Figure 19. Multi-Drop Communication With Shared Microcontroller System Architecture” likes the “2 serial -36V Li battery system architecture” as we mentioned.

Can we use Ti/ BQ76PL455A to implement this application?

  • Hello Tommy,

bq76pl455 can definitely support this application.

Even with daisy chain architecture(recommend two AFEs are in the same board), it can also support since

each bq76pl455 and associated circuits is independent entity and connected with cap isolation and then connected

    to MCU by digital isolator.

    Battery can swap in random.

    Andy

    Thanks!
