ISO5852S: Desat Chart seem to have wrong units

Part Number: ISO5852S

Datasheet has wrong chart apparently :

Fig 33 should be 90% Dsat Drop  , units seem to be ok

Fig 34 should be 10% , Desat Drop , units should be nsec , not useconds

part number is ISO5852S

  • Hello Mahmood,

The units for tds(10%) is correct; this is in microseconds. The protection feature enables soft turn off when DESAT is detected to pull OUTL low slowly in order to safely shut down the power switch. The pulldown current is approximately 130mA and the load is 10nF. Thus, the timing of shutdown is approximately based on t_shutdown=C*dv/i = (10nF)*(15V-(-8V))/(130mA) = ~2 us.

This detail is also explained in Section 9.3.4 Soft Turnoff, Fault (FLT) and Reset (RST).

    Thank you,

    Audrey

  • Hi Audrey

i agree with you timing for

full shutdown (90% discharge )  is approx 2usecl

For Partial Discharge (10% )  should be roughly 500nseconds

Fig 33 shows graph for 10% discharge and it mentions it to be 2usec

Fig 34 shows graph for 90% discharge and it mentions 550usecond  not nanoseconds

  • Hello Mahmood,

Yes, in Figure 34 there is a typo. The units should be 'ns' as is given in the Switching Characteristics table. Thank you for pointing out the error.

    Regards,

    Audrey
