Hi team,
How is charge termination determined when termination current is set to do not use, see Table 24 from the datasheet below. And what happens when termination is disabled completely?
Thank you,
Franz

Hello Franz,
The do not use option is stated because termination current is set to 0mA and is also subject to the ITERM accuracy specification. This is why its suggested to not use that setting.
When termination is disabled, the charger stays in CV mode and doesn't stop charging and go into high impedance mode when the charge current goes below ITERM.
Hi Raheem,
what is the difference between Termination and ITERM. I thought Termination and ITERM are coherent.
If i disable the termination I also disable ITERM value?
My second question relies to the ITERM value. On upper table its written, that i can adjust ITERM on 1% of the ICHRGE. If i set ICHRGE at 1.25 mA accordingly the ITERM is set on 0.0125 mA. Is this right?
Because on first site of datasheet is written, that the smallest step of termination current is 0.5 mA.
Its a little bit confusing.
Thank you so much.
Regards
Sebastian
Hello,
ITERM is the current where termination occurs. If you disable termination, there's no ITERM.
The ITERM setting is a percentage so the value will be based on the charge current setting. However, the minimum termination current the device can terminate at is 0.5mA.
Hi Raheem,
all right. I already assumed that, but i was a little bit insecure.
But, can you suggest me a charger ic which can provide a termination current of 0,125 mA?
It would be perfect, if this ic have the same conditions like BQ 25155.
Thank you.
Regards,
Sebastian
Hello Sebastian,
Detecting 125uA of current is very tricky since there will be noise as well at such low termination current. The minimum we have is 0.5mA
