Hey all,

i want to know something about a fuel gauge combined with a protection ic (BQ 28550-R1 & BQ27742-g1).

Is there a possibility to use a "own" range between overcharging and overdischarging?

For example:

I want to have a range between 4,3 V for overcharging and 3 V for overdischarging.

Hello Sebastian,

I would recommend looking at the OVP and UVP thresholds in the TRM.

Hi Kang,

cause of your anwser i assume that i can't adjust the preinstalled values and i have to use the values of table 2-1.

Could you suggest an ic which i can select my own values or an ic which have lower voltage and current values?

Please read the TRM carefully. You may refer to page 12 which talks about UVP and OVP.

Thank you for the advice.

Now i have a new question.

The lowest value of hardware overcurrent that can be selected for charging is 6 mV and for discharging is 14 mV. (p.20 in TRM)

Is there a way to reduce this?

No, the only way to change these may be a sense resistor selection.

okay.

Do you or one of your colleagues have experience with changing the sense resistor?

What do you think as a expert about this, its feasible or should the changing be left?

Hello Sebastian,

You can change the sense resistor value to 5-10 mOhm range if you would like.

Make sure to go through calibration procedure in bqStudio.
