BQ20Z95: Few questions

Part Number: BQ20Z95

Hi,

I have several questions about subjects that I can't find an answer to.

1. Can I Generate Golden Image file for a battery pack and not just for one cell? if so, how? through bqEASY?

2. What are the differences between .DFI and .GG file?

3. Can I export .GG file from a proper battery pack and import it to another battery pack?

4. What is RA table? is that an individual/differents parameters for each battery pack? is that ok to change the RA table parameters?

5. Does the Qmax value change during battery operation? if so, why?

  • 1. Use bqEasy

    2. You should refer to the app note going to production with bq20z devices

    3. refer to the EVM user's guide

    4. refer to theory of impedance track app note

    5. refer to learning cycle app note.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Kang,
    Thank you for your answer.

Where can I find those app notes?
    I can't find a few of them.
    1. I fund app note that explains about doing that for one cell and not for a pack.
App note: How to Generate Golden Image for Single-Cell Impedance Track™ Devices.
    2. Fund it.
    3. According to EVM user's guide, I understand that I can do that.
        Correct me if I'm wrong.
    4. Didn't find the app note.
    5. Didn't find the app note.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hello Daniel,

Search for theory of impedance track on google for #4.

Search for learning cycle texas instruments gas gauges for #5. You should see a selection of guides that talk about how to successfully run a learning cycle.

The EVM user's guide also contains some good details.

  • Hello Kang,
    Thanks for your answer.
I fund the answers for questions 2,3,4,5.
For #1 I still don't understand if I can generate Golden Image File for a pack and not for a single cell?
Because I didn't find something that says it's ok.
There is an app note that talks about doing it for a single cell (How to Generate Golden Image for Single-Cell Impedance Track™ Devices).
And another app note that talks about the production flow also refer to a single cell (Battery Pack Production Flow With bq20zXX).
As well, can I use the GG file from a learned battery pack for mass production?

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hello,

You can generate it on either one as long as the accuracy meets the requirement. We typically generate golden files on the pack level because that's what is connected to your system.

You can use a GG file, but that's a text based file. The DFI is the flashstream format of the file. Search for flashstream texas instruments for more information on the flashstream format.
