LMG3410R070: Paralleling LMG341X for 3kW PFC

Part Number: LMG3410R070
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG3411EVM-029

Dear team,

We are working on a 3kW CCM totem pole PFC solution for server PSU and plan to use parallel LMG341x as power stage. As mentioned in datasheet, small decoupling inductors should be utilized for hard-switching applications. So our questions are as follow:

(1) Paralleling LMG341X:

  • Decoupling inductors make it difficult for layout design. So how do decoupling inductors work and is it possible to parallel LMG341x without decoupling inductors?
  • If possible, are there any other layout considerations we should pay attention to?

(2) Bootstrap diode selection:

  • We are also testing bootstrap power supply for lower cost. During preliminary tests on LMG3411EVM-029, bootstrap resistor works fine at 100kHz but burns out as Fsw goes up to ~150kHz. We use 5.1ohm bootstrap res + 47uF bootstrap cap and Toshiba CRF03 for bootstrap diode. We suppose this happens due to large reverse recovery current of CRF03. Any comments on this problem? Will this be solved with UFM15PL?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Charles Zhao
