UCC24624: Input bypass capacitor

Part Number: UCC24624

Hi team

Should customer place the input bypass capacitor for VDD and REG considering DC bias ?

Thank you and best regards,

Michiaki

  • For VDD and REG capacitor values, please refer to the datasheet recommended operating conditions table on page 5.

  • Hi Hong,

In the UCC24624EVM-015, C2012X7R1H225M125AC is installed as REG pin bypass capacitor and here is the DC bias characteristic.

As you can see, actual capacitor value is less than 2.2uF of min CREG in the datasheet.

Shouldn’t customer consider the DC bias characteristic ?

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Yes, the capacitance variation from DC bias should be considered.  C2012X7R1H225M125AC should be ok to use. The min in the recommended table is a typical value for consideration. The EVM shows even using typical min on what the DC bias resulted can still work ok.

In your design, you can consider to use this capacitor or a bit higher capacitor value along with your temperature range.
