BQ27Z561-R1: How to program firmware and configuration parameters inside the target application using BQStudio question

Part Number: BQ27Z561-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27Z561, BQSTUDIO, BQ27Z561EVM-011, EV2400, BQ2980

Dear Team,

I'm evaluationg to use the BQ27Z561-R1 (or R2) to monitor a single LiPo cells, the question is how to perform firmware upgrade and parameters setup when I will have the module inside my target board, so:

- how I can program a new firmware in my target board by means of BQStudio (I've to use the EVM board and attach the I2C line to my board after isolating the ones that are attached to the BQ27Z561 that is soldered on the MVM boards?)

- hoe I can setup the configuration parameters of the BQ27Z561 device directly from BQStudio in order to avoid to send all the data from my microcontroller (I've to do the sniffing trick as described above?)

Thank.

Best regards.

F.

  • Hello,

Please refer to the EVM user's guide. It answers all the questions you have here.

  • yes, just now I've found that the EVB implement the EV2400 interface so I can use the BQ27Z561EVM-011 Evaluation Board to program the target application by means of a external I2C connection (J7) without the need to buy an EV2400 programming interface only for this purpose.

"The bq27z561 evaluation system comprises of three hardware components: the bq27z561 circuit module, on board EV2400 PC interface board, and a bq2980 battery protector."

    Thank!

    Best regards
