Hi experts,

I would like to usec certain 217000 with the BQ78350 IC, specifically this type:

INR21700-40T or INR21700-50E, is there any hope that you guys have this chem IDs somewhere, so I can program

my bq78350 with them? If not can you do it for me?

    Hi Andras,
    Please look at the 2 posts below as they explain how to select the correct ChemID and how to generate the CEDV parameters.

    Hi David,

    For now I am only interested in selecting the correct ChemID for these cells listed above, but it seems that

    you do not have these battery chemistries in your Chemistry Programming even if I updated the Chemistry table with this sw:

    What do you guys suggest for these batteries? Actually they are quite commonly used batteries now in 2020 and they are gaining ground. Looks like BqStudio does not support these batteries yet, when can I expect an update on them? What do you suggest to use?

    Hi Andras,

    If you update the BQStudio Chemistry files, you will be able to see the selection for the INR21700-50E is available. 

    First, download the latest BQStudio Chemistry Updater from this link: http://www.ti.com/tool/GASGAUGECHEM-SW

    After you have downloaded the zip file, replace the files in C:\ti\BatteryManagementStudio\chemistry\ with the new files contained in the zip file. Now when you open BQStudio, you should be able to select your ChemID.

    Hi Matt,

    In this way it worked, actually the problem was that I tried to do the update with bqStudio -> Help -> Update Chemistry and select the zip file.

    In this way it did not work.

    Anyway, I found the INR21700-50E battery but there is no trace of the INR21700-40T battery in the table (neither in your screenshot).

    Do you actually have INR21700-40T somewhere?

    Hi Andras,

    The INR21700-40T is not in the database at this point. I am not sure if it will be added any time soon.

    One important thing to note is the BQ78350-R1 only uses the ChemID for initial capacity and SOC estimate after power up using only the cell voltage. After the gauge is up and running, it uses coulomb counting to track SOC.

    Yee I know that very well but wee need an initial starting point on reset or power up state, then we handle the rest with Coulomb counting.
