TPS53312 phase margin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53312

Hi team,

My customer is testing one board with TPS53312, The full load phase margin is only 30° which isn't enough. Do you have some methods to solve it? i have let them change the feedback circuit with a cap. it doesn't have obvious change. Thanks.

  • Frank,

Can I see the schematic?  What are the input and output conditions?  There may be some possibility to improve it, but I am not overly concerned.  For DCAP2 devices, the phase is increasing after the crossover frequency up to near one half of Fsw.  There is no possibility for it to become unstable.  This is different form normal current or voltage mode control where the phase may drop rapidly above the power stage pole or double pole.  For DCAP2 phase margins of 30 to 40 degrees are common.
