BQ25155: Would this part work with a 3 cell pack? Why/why not?

Hi BCP apps team,

I know this part is rated for a single cell charger, but I was wondering what would happen if it were used for a 3 cell pack? Would it be being used out of spec therefore we cannot promise normal behavior as speced in datasheet? That is my guess, but just wanted to check with you guys. I'm also curious as to how this would affect the device.

    Hi Lauren,

    Is it 3 cell in series or in parallel? Parallel configuration is something i have seen commonly. For series the voltage is too high for us to handle at 4.2x3 = 12.6V. 

    For series config, you might explore our buck-boost chargers. If you are looking for a 2 cell series charger, let me know.
