BQ4050: NTC provision for temperature sensing of external modules

Part Number: BQ4050

Hi All,

we are using BQ4050 for cell balancing in one of our application. We have 2 cells 18650 in series. Hope it is okay to use the TS1 and TS2 pins with a 10K NTC to sense the temperature of the batteries. Can we use the remaining two pins TS3 and TS4 with a 10K NTC for sensing the temperature of other modules (not batteries) on our board? Is it okay to do this and will this work?

Thank you and let me know if you need any further information from my end. Awaiting for the early response.

Regards,

Nishanth M

  • Hi Nishanth,

Yes, but it has to be setup as measuring FET temp and will be considered FET temp. It will have to be read by MAC and extended command DAStatus2().

The Temperature() command returns the Cell Temperature measurement. The MAC and extended command DAStatus2() also returns the temperature measurement from the internal temperature sensor, the external thermistors TS1, TS2, TS3, and TS4, and the Cell and FET Temperatures.
