BQ34210-Q1: Battery data needed to configure fuel gauge.

I would suggest you get at least an EV2400 so that you can use it together with bqStudio to communicate with the gauge device and change the configurations.   It is very timing consuming to create a tool that does the same job as the bqStudio by yourself.

If I would use a battery that fits on of the 2 default battery profiles, would I then still need a EV2400 and bqStudio  to configure the fuel gauge or would it work by just selecting the right profile using i2c

Bascially, the bqStudio is a full suite of robust tools to assist with the process of evaluating, designing with, configuring and testing. I would still suggest you try to get an EV2400 and use bqStudio to make your life much easier.

You can have a try without bqStudio by following the quickstart guide below.

I got my hands on a EV2400 and it is able to connect to the BQ34210-Q1  on the development board.

Now my question is:

I am planning to this battery "Panasonic NCR18650 2900mAh 3.6A Battery".:

You need to set a few configuration parameters in the bqStudio.

See Section 3 Programming the Configurations in the app note I provide before.

The link you provided before brought me to bq34z100-G1 Out-of-Box Quick Start Guide. Section 3 of that document is about Download and Installation bqstudio.

However the within the quick start guide of the bq34210-Q1 (http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluubr7/sluubr7.pdf) it says to configure Design Capacity, Charge Termination Voltage, Taper Current, and EOS Configuration but I only know what to put in for the Design Capacity.

Would you be able to explain what the other values?

By default this value is set at 100mV for both the default Profiles. On the datasheet of the battery it says 4.20V Maximum under charging. That seems like al lot considering the 100mV set as default as well as that bqStudio has a maximum of 1000mV. Am I using the wrong value here?
