LM5117: Can we draw current off VCC pin?

Hello,

Can the VCC regulator on the LM5117 be used for other external circuitry?

We're seeing about 5mA being used right now for the controller & the short circuit limit is rated at 30mA.

Hi Keith,

Normally we leave the VCC pin alone but I will double check with the apps engineer who might work on this.

Do you seeing issue or this is just a design review?

Hi Keith,

I just got a feedback that it depends on how much gate drive current (= Qg*Fsw) the FETs are consuming.

If there is some margin to the VCC current limit, then it should be okay
