TPS22810-Q1: Using this device as a regulator

Is is possible to use this (TPS22810-Q1) device as regulator. For example, I have 9V to 3.3V regulator (TPS82140) in my design, is it possible to use TPS22810-Q1 instead of TPS82140. If yes, how can I regulate it to 3.3V from 9V

Hello,

The TPS22810 is a load switch intended to toggle OFF/ON power rails. This device does not have any voltage regulating capabilities.

Thank you for the reply,

I know this does not have regulating capabilities. I was thinking of using a voltage divider at the out pin of this device, but I am not sure of the stability. Is it feasible or you have any other suggestion?

Hello,

With the TPS22810 enabled you will be able to conduct VIN to VOUT. The voltage at the output of theTPS22810 will be as stable as the power supply.

The efficiency of the application will depend on the for voltage divider. For low power applications this could work, but for high power applications the current flowing through the resistors could generate a lot of heat and could potentially cause a variance in the resistance.

If this is a high power application I would recommend using an actual regulator IC in the system.
