BQ25895M: Input source detection timing question

Part Number: BQ25895M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25895

Hi Team,

If VBUS to BQ25895M is switched from high voltage adapter to USB input (assume power mux exists to control and data lines are connected to BQ device) and the device has to start input source detection again, how fast does USB input voltage have to be switched  for input source type detection to work properly?

Another way to ask, if data lines are connected, what is max duration USB input has to be applied to VBUS?

We are trying to figure out if power mux is fast enough as it switches from high voltage input (which does not use data lines) to USB input.

Thanks,

Adrian

  • Adrain,

The BQ25895 EVM uses TS3USB221ARSER (ESD Protected,High-Speed USB 2.0 (480-Mbps) 1:2 Multiplexer / Demultiplexer Switch, 1:2 Mux / Demux, 6 ohm RON, 2.5 to 3.3V, -40 to 85 degC). You may select any similar or faster Multiplexer / Demultiplexer Switch.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
