BQ28Z610: Question about item and How to Use

Part Number: BQ28Z610
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400

Hi,

I am trying to set up BQ28Z610 without using "BQSTUDIO", but there is a place where it is not working.

Can you answer the following questions?

1. Does the RSOC value indicate the remaining capacity in% of the maximum capacity of the battery?
2. For "FD", "FC", "TD", and "TC", use a cell with a voltage of 7200mV. Does the set value match with half of the target value?
3.What is the correct answer for Voltage at EoC for the maximum voltage of 7200mV to charge?
4. TS terminal is not connected. Is it necessary to set internal “TS” in “Temperature Enable” setting?
5. Is it possible to return to the factory settings?
6. I am writing without using "BQSTUDIO" in the attachment settings, but there are problems that the battery cannot be charged and the correct value cannot be read with CellVoltage.
Can you point out the problem?

Hope to hear from you soon!

  • See my comments below.

    1. Does the RSOC value indicate the remaining capacity in% of the maximum capacity of the battery?

According to the bq28z610 TRM, RSOC is the predicted remaining battery capacity as a percentage of FullChargeCapacity().

    2. For "FD", "FC", "TD", and "TC", use a cell with a voltage of 7200mV. Does the set value match with half of the target value?

I don't quite understand your question.

3.What is the correct answer for Voltage at EoC for the maximum voltage of 7200mV to charge?

I don't think you need to configure this parameter.

    4. TS terminal is not connected. Is it necessary to set internal “TS” in “Temperature Enable” setting?

You can use the internal temperature sensor. I suggest you connect a 10k resistor to the TS1 pin if you don't want to use an external temperature sensor.

    5. Is it possible to return to the factory settings?

    Yes. Program the default firmware.

    6. I am writing without using "BQSTUDIO" in the attachment settings, but there are problems that the battery cannot be charged and the correct value cannot be read with CellVoltage.

BQ28z610 is a flash-based gauge.  Some configurations (e.g. chemistry id) must be done with bqStudio. They can never be accomplished by any other tool.  I would suggest you use bqStudio to have all the necessary settings configured.

  • Hi Andy,

    1.understood. Thank you.

2.For example, I think that the value of "FC" must be set to the maximum charging voltage of 7200mV, but the upper limit of the setting value is 5000mV.
Because you think that you are wrong, please tell me the correct way of thinking.

3.If not, should I write the default value shown in "sluua65d.pdf"?

4.Is it necessary to set "TS" to enable?
Is the "TS1" pin pulled down?

5.Is it to write the default value of "sluua65d.pdf"?

Is there a command to reset all devices to the initial state?
Is it not possible to use the method described in NOTE in 5.4.1. of "sluua65d.pdf"?
I do not understand the setting method because I do not understand "AFE".

6.I have a short working period and I want to move on with only the minimum functions, [Charge, Voltage measurement].
Therefore, I want to operate the [Calibration, RA Table] item by default.
Is there anything wrong with the attached settings?2117.Data_memory.gg.csv

  • BQ28z610 is a flash-based IT gauge. Some configurations (e.g. chemistry id) MUST be done with bqStudio and EV2400. They can NEVER be accomplished using your own.  You need to get EV2400 and use bqStudio.
