BQ25886: ICO mode with D+/D- lines

Part Number: BQ25886

Hi,

In the TI forum I noticed that some people shorted D+/D- lines to force the BQ25886 to ICO mode (input current optimizer mode). So

1. Is there any limitation/thread-of  using ICO mode by shorting D+/D- lines?

2. On which page in datasheet can I found related information?

3. What is the approach to limit input current by using D+/D- lines? There are divider options I read about, but not sure how to configure, for non standard adapter, to be 2.4A.

Thanks,

Vahram

  • Hi Vharam,

Please refer to Section 8.3.4 Input Current Optimizer (ICO) on the BQ25886 datasheet. The adaptor is detected as DCP when D+ and D- are shorted.  The D+D-divider is on the adaptor side as shown on Section 8.3.3.2 Input Source Type Detection on page 14 of the datasheet.
