LM25037-Q1: very low fsw frequency

Part Number: LM25037-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25037, LM555

Hello Support team,

My customer is investigating LM25037 for other usage except power supply. Can LM25037 support 50Hz or 100Hz switching frequency? Datasheet Fig.6 shows curve from 20kHz only. If tough, please explain why LM25037 can't support the requirement.

Thanks,

Koji Ikeda

  • Hi Koji-san,

Many of the switched mode power supply controllers have been designed to run at switching of 10kHz to 1MHz, this means they have a range of resistor and capacitor values that can be connected to the controller pins to programme the switching frequency and meet the accuracy or tolerance on the datasheet.

If the PWM controllers are used with parts to bring them outside of the design operating range it becomes impossible to guarantee their performance and the oscillator accuracy may be very poor.

The LM555 timer IC may be a better alternative for this application.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards

    Peter
