LED Driver for High Speed Application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM36010

I need a stable LED driver for an High Speed application in the nanoseconds range.

I still don't know the power I will need nor the number of LEDs.

Let's say the light power will be similar to a external flash camera.

In the parametric search, I didn't see any parameter for the speed, On and Off.

Any idea for a good device ?

Thank you !

  • Hi Sir,

Please get the detail required for the application, then I can help to give you good advice. Please provide:

Vin range? Vout range? Iout range? Dimming requirement? Other requirements?

  • Actually,

We are in the very early process of the design and thoses parameters are not fully identified.
    I would say...

    Vin :  3V to 5V

    Vout : Undetermined

    Iout : 1 A

    Dimming :  Not required

Other :  Enable, trigger with fast operating output.

The control of the flash system will be made by an external trigger, and it is possible to have a repetition rate of the flash to 1 ms.

The "shape" of the current / light must be pretty sharp / square with minimal distortion.

The amount of light sent to the object will be based on level of current and time on (area under the curve)

    Thanks !

  • Hi Sir,

I would highly recommend LM36010 for this application if the Vout not exceed 5V. LM36010 supports IR mode which can be triggered very quickly.
