TLV62095: Functional questions related to softstart

Part Number: TLV62095
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS56C215

Hello,

I have a couple of questions related to softstart on the TLV62095.
1) Does it have pre-biased softstart control feature?
2) Does it have sink current limit on the LS-FET or does it have a current limit only on the HS-FET?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Shinya,

Can you explain what you meant by pre-biased softstart?

Are you asking, does TLV62095 can start in pre-biased condition?

I am unsure what you mean by sink current  limit. Can you explain?

I want to make sure I answer your questions correctly here.

    Thank you very much!

  • Let me take an example in TPS56C215 as follows. I can't find same description on the TLV62095 datasheet, so I wonder it would equip same feature or not.

  • Hello Shinya,

Looking at block diagram, the device should be able to operate when output is pre-biased at startup and initiate switching once internal Vref gets to target voltage 0.8V.

As TLV62095 is a DCS controlled device, once inductor current hit zero then device goes in Power save mode and decrease switching frequency. You can see behavior in figurw 15 of datasheet.

That's why here you don't see any Low side current limit. Forced PWM devices need this negative low side current limit when current is forced negative.

    Thank you very much!
