BQ40Z80: BQ40z80 SRP, SRN abs rating

Part Number: BQ40Z80

HI Team,

In bq40z80 datasheet, the abs rating of SRP, SRN is -0.3V to V_REG+0.3V. I would like to know what will happen if the common voltage of SRP, SRN is below -0.3V, for example -0.4V. Will that damage IC?

Because the discharge current will be very high when the short circuit happens, even we choose 1mohm sensing resistor. And customer concerns about the damage.

We only guarantee the IC will survive -0.3V. It may survive -0.4V but it's not guaranteed by TI to survive. For 1m-ohm sense resistor -0.3V is equivalent to -300A. Are you anticipating that much current during a short circuit event?
