According to the SMD the OVP protection threshold has a margin between 0.52Vmin and 0.63Vmax.
To satisfy the maximum applied voltage for all downstream components after the load switch the OVP must be set to worst-case 3.6V min, then the max OVP would be 4.36V max using a standard 16.9K Ohm 1% resistor not accounting for EOL parameters of the 100K (Rtop) and 16.9K (Rbot) Ohm resistor. During an over voltage event the 4.36V will exceed the maximum voltage rating for all components downstream. The overvoltage event is defined as Vin changes from 3.3V nom (3.47V max) to 5.0V nom (5.25V max) if the upstream regulator fails due to a SET event or damage applying unregulated power cascading through the unit, which we want to prevent.
For 0.63V max I am using equation (2)
My assumption, for 0.52V min the equivalent equation to (2) is:
- Can you confirm the assumed equivalent equation and results?
- Is the V(OVPR) range temperature dependent or a process issue?
Thank you and with best regards,
