TPS61232: TPS61232DRCR broken

Part Number: TPS61232

I tried this component with this pcb

I tried with 2 pcb.

1 doesn't work it seems disabled

1 The first power on work but i when i put a charge 1A... it broke.

Anyone can help me?

Hi Andrea,

The bad layout is the reason of IC broken.

Please refer to datasheet part 11 layout guideline.

The power trace should be wide enough to handle big current.

Hi Andrea,

Thanks for the update:

Below is my comments on the layout and schematic:

1. For a DCDC switching converter, it is suggested to use low ESR, Low ESL ceramic capacitor as output capacitors. So please change C1, C3~C5 to ceramic capacitors.

2. Widen the SW trace.

3. Remove the thermal relief to reduce the PCB parasitic resistance and inductance.

4. The C3~C5 GND is not connected to IC GND pad directly.
