WEBENCH® Tools/UCC28742: AC to DC converter

Part Number: UCC28742

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I am trying to design an all country AC to DC converter that will handle 90VAC to 505VAC and output 5VDC at 0.5A.  I stumbled on the UCC28742, but I don't know if that is the best choice.  Does anyone have a better suggestion?

I got a Webench solution for the UCC28742.  Then I put the data sheet, design equations in a spread sheet to calculate resistors, inductance, and turns ratios.  After very careful checking, I still got significantly different answers from Webench.  Any thoughts?

  • Hello,

Every designer uses a slightly different technique in regards to designing power supplies.  The Webench tool should be correct and was verified with a reference design.

There is an excel design tool that you can use to do your design as well that you can find at the following link.

The UCC28742 should work for your application.

We also have many reference designs available on the WEB.  You might want to search that data base as well to see if there is something that is close to your needs already designed.

    Regards,
