TPS63060: Output discharge

Part Number: TPS63060
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63070

Hello team,

I can't find a description for output discharge function on the TPS63060 datasheet.
Is it correct that TPS63060 doesn't equip that feature?

Thanks in advance.
S.Sawamoto

  • Hi Shinya,

    Thanks for reaching out.

No, the TPS64060 does not have an output discharge function. One solution could be using the PG output for discharge when the device is disabled, however this pin has very limited (and likely untested) sinking capabilities.

Alternatively, you might use the TPS630702 which has similar voltage/current ratings as the TPS63060, and has the output discharge function.

    Best regards,
    Milos

  • Hi Milos,

    Thanks for your helpful answer.
I come up with an additional question.
What is the maximum sink capability for the PG pin when we consider the pull up resistor as output discharge on the TPS63060?

    Thanks,
    S.Sawamoto

  • Hi Shinya,

We will have to check if this is specified at all, since this output was intended to be used only as a PG signal, and will let you know.

    Best regards,
    Milos

  • Hi Shinya,

The PG output is designed to sink around 10 μA typically. It might sink up to 100 μA, but I doubt this is high enough to discharge the output quickly.

I would recommend the TPS63070 instead for this functionality, or adding a load switch with output discharge function.

    Best regards,
    Milos
