BQ24650: MPPT charge controller

Hi ,

I am using 30W solar panel to charge 12v battery. During day time it is charging battery but at night  it is going to fault mode sometime may be due to low voltage of battery . Next day even if solar is present it is not charging the battery unless i restart it manually . Also,it is switching off the load supply . Is there any solution in this that i can come out automatically from fault mode and charge battery when PV supply is present.

    Hi Tantravahi,

       What voltage do you set the MPPSET point to? Most likely this voltage is not set correctly. When sunlight comes back and you observe that battery is not being charged, please log:

    • VCC
    • MPPSET voltage (measured on near the IC)
    • SRN 
    • input current
    • charge current
    • STAT1, STAT2

    Hi keder ,

    Thanks for reply. Voltage for MPPSET point is set to 2.02V near IC and Vmppt is 19v  according to formula i.e the resistor values are 499k and 36k and battery voltage is below 7v still remains in fault mode. Even if battery is deep discharged can i get output to load atleast during morning through solar. Is any such way available with this?

    Hi Prathush,

         By load, are you referring to an external system load, or just referring to the charge current of the battery? What is your charge regulation voltage set to? Please also measure VFB in above condition, as well as let me know VCC value.
