TPS27081A: load switch/Buck converter survey

Part Number: TPS27081A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22810

I'm surveying load switch and Buck converter. The condition is as below:

 1. load switch: input voltage>=7V, Iout> 0.1A, ultra low Iq, smaller package;  Is TPS27081A  the best solution?

2. Buck converter: input voltage >= 7V, output voltage: 2V ,Iout>0.1A,  ultra low Iq, smaller package.

Please provide me the recommended solution for above two parts. Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Jesse,

    Welcome to E2E!

In our load switch portfolio the only devices capable of handling a 7V input voltage would be the TPS22810 and the TPS27081A. The TPS22810 does have a higher quiescent current, but minimizes the current leakage in the OFF state. The quiescent current in the TPS27081A can be minimized by increasing the R1 resistor value in the schematic shown in section 8 "Application and Implementation" section in the datasheet. Increasing the R1 value will decrease the quiescent current when the device is ON, but it will also increase the amount of leakage current in the off state.

For a suggestion on a buck converter please start a new thread and tag a buck converter device so the question can go to the team supporting that portfolio.

Let me know if you have any question.

    Best regards,

    Andy Robles
