LMR62014: LMR62014 5V BOOST to 12V

Part Number: LMR62014
  1. 1. If SS10100FL (Schottky) is not used for D5, and ES1002FL (fast recovery) is used, when Iout is loaded with 30mA, Vout will oscillate. What is the reason?

2.When D5 uses SS10100FL (Schottky), when Iout = loaded to 330mA, Vout will drop from 12.44V to 6.12V , is it normal? What is the normal maximum output current?

  • Dir Sir,

    Thanks for reaching out.

    1. For a high frequency DC/DC switching converter, a schottky diode is recommended as ideally it has no reverse recovery current. The fast recovery diode still has 30ns reverse recovery current time.

    2. From the screenshot, the output current rises to 330mA and after 400ms Vout drops to 6V. It has no relationship with LMR62014 switch current limit triggering otherwise Vout will drop as soon as Iout rises to 330mA.

To find the root cause of Vout drop, 1. can you please also measure the SW pin waveform. 2.Check the saturation current level of inductor. 3. Make sure the input voltage supply 5V has enough current capability.
