BQ76952EVM: How to connect the EVM to PC?

Part Number: BQ76952EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76952, EV2400, BQSTUDIO

Hi,

My customer is testing BQ76952EVM monitor and we are trying to power up it and communicate with a PC with the USB port.

We had followed the instruction sequence reported in the User's Guide SLUUC33–November 2019 BQ76952 Evaluation Module; point 2.2 Quick Start; but the device does not responds to the PC.

The tests points of the 3.3V and the VBUS are correctly powered to 3.3V and 5V.

Even thought the shunts to uC_SCL and uC_SDA are correctly connected; see the image below, the version is on SPI cfg configuration and i cannot change it.

Is it required also an interface like the EV2400 module for the correct communication between the monitor and the PC?

 Many Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

It looks like BQStudio is not recognizing the EV2400 circuit on the EVM. If the USB cable is connected between the EVM and the PC, BQStudio should normally recognize the EV2400 and show the version number of the EV2400 firmware.

I recommend re-writing the firmware to the EV2400 to see if that is the problem. It should have been programmed on the board in production, but maybe it was not programmed by mistake. The instruction for the firmware update are shown in Section 3 of the EV2400 User Guide.

I will send you a private message with the latest version of the firmware installer you will need.

    Best regards,

    Matt
