BQ25898D: BQ25898D: about the Charging Safety Timer count

Part Number: BQ25898D

hello,

In the following example, how many hours does the timeout take?

During the following period, the conditions for charging termination are not satisfied.

best regards

  • Hi,

The safety timer is set to 5 hours expiration during the first 2 hours then doubles to 10 hours during the next 2 hours and then resets to 5 hours for remainder. In the example above, the timer should expire at the end of the 1st hour of the 10 hour period.

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • hello,

During the next 2 hours, there is confirmation about the answer that the safety timer expires in doubles to 10 hours.

In Section 9.2.7.6 of the data sheet, it is described that the safety timer counts at half clock rate.

Is the correct answer for the safety timer, either counting at half clock rate or doubling the expiration time?

If the data sheet is correct, please answer the first question again.

    best regards

  • Hi,

If the counter counts at 1/2 rate, that effectively doubles the timer expiration time.  They mean the same thing.

    Regards,

    Jeff
