BQ2962: bq2962 REG no use

Part Number: BQ2962

Hi

Customer has one question about Vss connection. there is a description in datasheet " When VSS is floating, the REG capacitor always charges up to the VDD voltage." Is it such as below red line due to the FET is turned on by REG_EN and UVP_Vref of comp?

  • Hi Shane,

I do not have a detailed explanation for why the REG capacitor will charge with floating VSS, but the important thing is that you need to add a resistor if VSS cannot be connected first. If you are using the REG pin, then this resistor should be 5 to 10 ohms. If you are not using the REG pin, you can use a higher resistor like 100 ohms.

    Best regards,

    Matt
