LM9061: Input and Output Capacitors

Hi,

In the datasheet there is no much information on output capacitors. As for input side it is mentioned that he VCC pin must be bypassed with a capacitor with a value of at least ten times the Gate capacitance, and no less than 0.1 μF. In our design Vcc and Vout is 12V. Is it fine if only 0.1uF capacitor is bypassed from VCC and Cdelay=0.1uF for Delay pin is provided ?

Hi Vino,

0.1uF at Vcc is good enough but for your 12V application I would recommend TPS2595, TPS25982 devices.

Hi,

Thanks for your clarification regarding input and delay capacitor and for the alternate suggestions but we are not using ovp application.It is just used to drive the mosfet to act as a switch.

could you please clarify on output capacitor? Is it not necessary to provide any output capacitor for 12V ,10A design?

Hi,

I suggest to use at least 47uF if the load is transient in nature else 4.7uF would be good.

For switch applications, consider LM5060 device.
