TPS63802: iqd confirmation

Part Number: TPS63802

Idq of TPS63802 seems to be the lowest Idq among all other TI regulators, which is 11uA. however, I have a question. there are resistors for voltage division at the output of TPS63802. does this current includes the voltage divider current?

  • Hi Pragash,

    Thank you for reaching out.

No. For all TI devices, unless otherwise noted, IQ is the current needed to supply the IC only, in non-switching no-load conditions. For the explanation and how does IQ translate to real efficiency, please refer to this document:
    http://ti.com/lit/pdf/slyt412

For example, on the TPS63802 EVM at Vin = 3.7 V, Vout = 3.3 V, the no-load input current is around 18 μA. One part of this covers IQ, and the rest is covering switching losses and the losses in the external components (inductor and feedback divider).

    Best regards,
    Milos
