Hello,
I'm looging for a battery protect, balance and fuel gauge IC.
The fuel gauge should have a led output for the battery charge state.

My Battery: Li-Ion or Li-Po, 4 Cell, ca. 5000-15000mAh

I found the BQ40Z50.
Can I use this one standalone? Completely without using the SMBus, only Hardware-Config?

Better options? At the moment I use the BQ77915 - but this one doesn't have a fuel gauge.

BQ40z50-R2 would be the latest orderable device to use. We have the latest FW (BQ40z50-R3) available here: http://www.ti.com/tool/BQ40Z50-R3-DEVICE-FW?keyMatch=bq40z50-r3&tisearch=Search-EN-Everything, you can program this into the BQ40z50-R2.This gauge is standalone, but some initial work is required in terms of programming a suitable ChemID and performing learning cycle.
