I'm planning to use the bq2920x to balance a 2 cell battery, I do not care for the protection circuit. Can I leave the RVD, CVD, CCD out and connect the VDD directly to PACK+? Will the balancing functionality be affected? I'm space limited.

Hi Dusan,
From a safety perspective, we cannot recommend removing these components. The removal of CCD will cause the over-voltage detection delay to move toward zero. RVD is needed for battery safety in the case there is a hard short from VDD to VSS internal to the device. It is not a requirement for proper device operation, but the device functionality has not been characterized without these components.
Best regards,
Matt
