BQ76952EVM: BQ76952EVM

Part Number: BQ76952EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, , MSP430FR5994, BQ76952

Dear Mister,

I'm an french intern engineer, and I search for my compagny some devices (BMS) for test our algorithm about state of battery (SOC,SOH,SOF). I interest by the BQ76952EVM, however it does not containt a MCU, so can I use the MSP430FR5994 Launch Pad to fix this problem ? Can I use the BQstudio software with this MCU ?

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Sincerely,

Jérémy BLANC

  • I forgot a question : Can I connect this EVM with a test bench ?

    Sincerely,

    Jérémy BLANC

  • Hi Jérémy,

The BQ76952EVM can interface with BQStudio directly, but it is not possible to connect BQStudio to an MCU unfortunately. You can definitely use an MSP430 to interface with the BQ76952 and I can even share some sample code for this if it is helpful. I'll send you an E2E connection request - accept it and I will send you the code example privately since it is not yet published to ti.com.

It can be very challenging to develop a gauging algorithm. The BQ76952 offers excellent measurement accuracy which is necessary for accurate gauging, but it does not include the gauging algorithms for SOC. Tell me more about your application (how many cells in series, battery type, etc) and I can see if there is a solution that already has gauging included.

    Best regards,

    Matt
