TPS7A66-Q1: SI and SO function

Hi Team,

I have question about TPS7A66-Q1 pin function.

What is the function for SI/SO, I see the datasheet but it still confused me. Could you help brief introduce the function?

Compare to TPS7B81-Q1, they are similar and TPS7B81-Q1 performance and cost even better than TPS7A66-Q1.

If we don't need PG and CT function, should we use TPS7A66-Q1 directely?

    I have typo in my question. The part which has SI and SO is TPS7A69.-Q1

    And I also would like to know the difference between TPS7A66-Q1 and TPS7B81-Q1.

    If we don't need CT and PG function, is that mean TPS7A81-Q1 is better than TPS7A66-Q1?

  • Hi Roy,

    If you don't need to monitor the input supply and output supply, then TPS7B81 is the better choice. It has a lower IQ and no and light loads. 

    To answer your question on SI and SO:

    1. SI is used for monitoring the input power rai (or any power rail). The idea here is you can monitor the input power rail, one application for this is detecting when the input voltage is below a desired threshold, you can provide an alert to either perform a controlled shutdown to avoid data-loss or maybe to switch power paths.

    2. SO is the open-drain output indicated the status of the SI pin. 

    These two pins are independent of the function of the LDO. Meaning the LDO will still work if they are not used. So, if this functionality is not required, I would go with the TPS7B81.
