TPS51206: TPS51200 vs TPS51206

Part Number: TPS51206
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS51200,

Dear Team,

Can you please help with our customer question below ?

We are designing  a power supply that drives 8 x DDR4 components

We need to supply VDD=1.2, Vtt=0.6, vref= 0.6 and vpp=2.5v

We have a separate power supply for 1.2v and 2.5v

My question is about both Vtt=0.6, vref= 0.6.

We need up to 1.3A from Vtt.

Usually we use the TPS51200DRCTG4 for both voltages.

At the data sheet you mention “Memory Termination Regulator for DDR, DDR2, DDR3, and Low Power DDR3/DDR4”

We are using DDR4, not LPDDR4

We saw your TPS51206. You mention at the datasheet:

TPS51206 2-A Peak Sink / Source DDR Termination Regulator With VTTREF Buffered Reference for DDR2, DDR3, DDR3L, and DDR4

We prefer to use the 51200 because we used it several times at we have good experience with it.

The 51200 is also 3x3, instead of 2x2 (51206)so it is better from power cooling perspective.

My question: is it OK to use the 51200 at DDR4, although you mention Low Power DDR3/DDR4” at the datasheet?

And if it is not recommended: do you have the 51206 or equivalent chip for DDR4 at the same package as our 51200?

Best regards,

Nir
