CCS/BQ27520-G4: bq27520-g4

Part Number: BQ27520-G4
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCRB

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Dear colleague,

our product use bq27520g4  for single-cell Li-Ion battery fuel gauging. wo need to work in low temperature about -30℃.

But when the temperature is low , the SOC wo read from the bq27520-g4 is 0.

how do we resolve the problem. when use in low temperature we also could get the correct SOC.

  • First of all,  I suggest you check the performance of the battery at -30C. Most battery cells cannot handle that low temperature and have very little useable capacity.   The gauge is not able to fix that problem because the root cause is the physical characteristic of battery cells.

Second, try the GPCRB tool (http://www.ti.com/tool/GPCRB) if the battery works okay at -30C. You can find detailed instructions in its website.
