BQ20Z655-R1: Does Capacity Losses related with data files?

Part Number: BQ20Z655-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50-R2, BQEVSW

Hi,

I have battery pack which has 9.8Ah capacity. I charge and discharge cells between 2.5V to 4.2V.

I charged and discharged battery with default gg files which has been set 2.5V CUV. The capacity almost approximately 9.8Ah. Its good for me.

Then I create a rom file with editing data flash parameters, including chemID and running learning cycle. I have measured capacities of new packs after I upload my golden rom file to them.

I have lost %5-%10 capacity.

Is it possible to loss capacity because of any mistake on gg file? (Battery operation voltage region still 4.2V to 2.5V.)

  • First of all,  bq20z655-r1 is a bit old device and I would NOT recommend it for new designs.  Also, if I remember correctly, its EVM is already obsolete. I would suggest you use bq40z50-r2 since it a new device and have good EVM and software support.

Regarding your capacity loss,  what capacity are you talking about?  Can you provide a bqEVSW log file?

    Andy
