DCP020507: Vs Start-Up Slew Rate

Part Number: DCP020507

Hello,

Does DCP020507U have a restriction on VS slew rate at start-up? It seems the device fails to start up properly when the slew rate is too slow. When VS rises 0.1 V a step at a time on a trial basis, the VS begins to draw a large current of more than about 300 mA and a low switching frequency appears at SYNC pin at around 3.4 or 3.5 V of VS.

I suspect this behavior has something to do with the VS slew rate. If the DCP020507U requires a certain range of VS slew rate, I'd like to know the number.

Best regards,
Shinichi Yokota

  • Hi Shinichi,

If VS ramps very slowly, the module may experience trouble starting-up as you mentioned due to the high duty cycle and inrush current.

Unfortunately, I do not have a number for a required VS slew rate and unable to get into the lab to run some bench tests. All I can recommend at the moment is to increase the rate of Vin ramp. That should allow the device to get through the inrush condition/start-up.

    Regards,
    Alejandro
