BQ76952: Cell Balancing

Hi Ti Experts,

we want to use the bq76952 in standalone mode for a 16S6P (21,6Ah) LiFePo application.

So far we have designed and produced a first PCB version.

How can I activate the cell balancing function?

I have made following settings:

Cell7 runs in COV-Protection (3750mV).

The other cells were around 3600mV.

But the bq76952 does not start to balance.

Hallo Klaus,
As per the device support section of the datasheet, the cell balancing component within the device has been disabled in early samples. This has been fixed and that fix will be in the final silicon, which we expect to release to production later this year.

you mean this section, isn`t ist?

That I haven't seen. So we have no chance to test it?

As I mentioned above we use the bq76952 with a LiFePo battery pack. I think without the Cell Balancing function we can`t charge
the battery to full. I think we will always get an CUV-Event.

Yes, that is the section I was referring to.
No, cell balancing cannot be enabled with these samples.
