BQ51222: Tools and Software not available for download

Part Number: BQ51222
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51021, BQ51020

Repeat of a previous question found on the forum.

Your website is missing some tools referred to by the datasheet for the BQ51222.  For me, the "Tools & Software" tab is greyed out, not selectable.  pg 13 of datasheet says: See resistor calculations for LPRB1 and LPRB2: in the bq51222 web page "Tools & software" tab. The Excel file not only provides how to calculate the LPRB resistor values but also assists with other calculations. The Excel file can be accessed at http://www.ti.com/product/bq51222/toolssoftware

However, that link takes you to a download of "Foreign Object Detection (FOD) Calibration/Tuning Tool (Rev. A)  (ZIP 60490 KB ) ".  On top of that, the application that gets installed DOES NOT SUPPORT BQ51222 and it has errors when checking for an update.  There is no excel spreadsheet for download.

Please send  me the Excel file.

Thanks

 John

  • Hello John

    I recommend the BQ51020 or BQ51021 over BQ51222.

The BQ51222 is a dual mode device, PMA and WPC (Qi).  The PMA transmitters are less common now and no need for dual mode.

  • Hi Bill,

Thanks for the quick response. I am inclined to stay with the BQ51222 for two reasons.

    1) it is appreciably cheaper (both single and 1K) that the other two parts you suggested.

    2) it is a newer part which supports WPC1.2

Is there any particular technical reason to avoid the BQ51222?

In any case I still can not locate the EXCEL file mentioned in the data sheets to help me with component selection.

In particular, I see nothing in the data sheet to indicate how to select Ros or Rfod.

    Thanks
