BQ35100: How to a faster training cycle?

Part Number: BQ35100

Dear Sir/Madam,

My customer is trying to do a training cycle for BQ35100 discharge battery from Full to Empty to get ScaleR at this point. But their battery capacity 19Ah while the device is consumed 5-100mA , so it took too long to get the result. How can we speed up this process? Can we use a heavy load for the training cycle?

Best regards,

kpk

  • Kpk,

There should not be a "Learning Cycle" for the bq35100 where they discharge the entire thing. If the customer wants to test the device in an accelerated manor they can apply a larger load, but this is subject to the battery max continuous current. This is a battery spec and not a TI spec.

It is important to allow the battery to have a sufficient rest after the long discharge prior to attempting to gauge the battery. The flow should look something like

    1) Gauge pulse,

    2) Rest

    3) Gauge Pulse

    4) Rest

    5) Gauge Pulse

    6) Rest

    7) Gauge Pulse

    8) Extended Discharge (stay below cell max)

    9) Extended rest to recover from Dsg

    Thanks,

    Eric Vos
