BQ27425-G2A: Golden image programming

Part Number: BQ27425-G2A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400

I think EV2400 and bqStudio is needed when we make Golden Image file. (bqfs or dffs)          I know this is recommended way.

However I think these golden image file is not must for device programming.

And customer can program device setting without dffs file by setting the data block register which they want to change individually with I2C command.

Is this understand correct?

Or is there any concern about this method?

Best Regards,
Kohei Sasaki

  • Hi Kohei,

Yes. Your understanding is correct.  BQ27425 is a ROM gauge. The golden image you can generate in the bqStudio is a gm.fs file.

I would still suggest you use the gm.fs file since it provides the most efficient way to program a bq27425 device.  Also, we already prepare some C code that customers can use. See the app note below.
