BQ25703A: leakage problem

Part Number: BQ25703A

Hi team,

We encountered a problem when debugging the bq25703A. Normally, the machine is connected to the power supply and does not start. At this time The leakage current is 0.2mA. However, if the machine is turned on and then turned off (the power supply is continuously connected), the leakage current will become 0.8mA. We tried to change the power supply from Vbat to Vsys, and the power leakage was restored to 0.2mA after shutdown. Could you please help to analyze what may be the cause of this leakage current and 0.2mA to 0.8mA.

The following is part of the design schematic diagram

 Thank you!

  • 0.2mA quiescent current is very low.  One question: where did you measure the current? If it is measured on the adapter/battery side, we call it quiescent current. Without clear understanding of your system, it will be very hard to look into this.

  • Hi tiger,

Yes, we used the high resolution power supply to test the leakage current, according to the data on the power supply display.

Firstly we tried to put the supply in the battery simulation, to provide power to Vsys. At this time The leakage current is 0.2mA. However, if the  machine is turned on and then turned off (the power supply is continuously connected), the leakage current will become 0.8mA, and maintain 0.8mA.

Secondly we tried to put the supply directly connected to Vsys, the leakage current is 0.2mA all the time no matter turing on then off.

    Thank you

  • Maybe the VBAT powers more internal circuitry than the VSYS. See datasheet quiescent current.
