Gauging Device Suggestion

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34210-Q1, BQ34Z100-G1

Dear

I am looking for a battery gauging device. Here are the requirement:

1. battery gauging only, no protection needed, just need to do the coulomb counting

2. Sensor resistor: 1 mOhm

3. Able to measure up to 100A

I found the closest device: bq34210, but I would like to check if there is any other option. Moreover, what's the resolution of the current sensing for bq34210?

Thank you.

  • Hi Jack,

What is the # series cell count for your application? BQ34210-Q1 is an automotive qual gauge. Please keep in mind the ADC of our coulomb counter has a resolution of 16 bits as shown in datasheet, so max current value read by gauge is 32767 mA. I recommend you look at BQ34z100-G1 instead, section 7.3.12 of the datasheet. You will need to use scaling for supporting above 32767 mA due to gauge resolution. For further question regarding scaling feature, please submit a separate thread under that device.

    Thanks!
