BQ78350-R2-DEVICE-FW: Issues with firmware version not matching chemistry

Part Number: BQ78350-R2-DEVICE-FW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76930EVM, BQ78350, BQSTUDIO, BQ78350-R1A, BQ78350-R1

Hi

I've got 2 questions...

1 - In a recent post (BQ76930EVM: How do I connect a charger to the EVM circuit?) I mentioned that I had observed an initialisation error with the BQ Studio when connecting to the BQ76930EVM - an error message indicates that the firmware I have chosen is not compatible with the detected device).  I have since done a bit more investigating and can see (at least on the face of it) the reason for this error.  Basically, my bq78350 device is reporting that it is a 1E9B_1_04 but the bqstudio config directory does NOT contain any configurations that match this.  I have been selecting the file 1E9B_1_03-bq78350_R1.bqz (and have also tried a newer version 1E9B_2_02-bq78350R2.bqz) and have just renamed the file to something like, 1E9B_1_04-bq78350_R1_mjbCopy.bqz. The studio then automatically 'detects' the device and initialises ok.

So, my first question is how do I achieve a studio enviroment where the configuration files match my EVM device?  I'll also point out that I have tried to download the latest(?) firmware for the 78350 from the TI site (www.ti.com /lit/zip/sluc635) but this returns an Error 404, i.e. file not found.

2 - My next question is likely related to the first and concerns the chemistry selection for my cells.  The pack I am testing with is constructed from 38120 cells, which are nominally 10Ah LiFePO4 cells.  I have tried unsuccessfully to update the chemistry from the default LION setting to something more appropriate, for example, 0410 or 0415.  Each time I try to select a different chemistry I get Error code 1703, and the associated message 'Firmware version in bcfgx does not match firmware version of connected device'.

I notice there has been previous discussion regarding this error but the answers did not seem to fit my situation.

Thankyou for your help to resolve these 2 issues.

Cheers,

Mike
