BQ78350-R1: R2 Firmware IPSCALE

Hi,

I read in some posts that for IPSCALE = 1,2 or 3 the device does not have to have R2 fw, but in the technical reference it is written differently, what is the truth about it? Does it also mean that using IPSCALE = 2 or 3

the device theoretically can handle 32A*100*65V = 208 kW within a single battery pack if - of course - all the electronics allow it ?

Hi Magyar,

The IPSCALE parameter can only be used with the R2 firmware.

However, there is another trick to scale current using the R1 firmware, so it is not necessary to upgrade to R2 if this is the only reason. With the BQ78350-R1, you can scale by using a scaled current during current calibration. It will accomplish basically the same result. Here is a presentation on this topic:
